About me and where this all started.

The Pottery Shed  - Our history

Hi! I am Naomi - I am a Mum of four (all teenagers) and during lock down developed a love for painting pottery. It helped me to stay calm, de-stress and whittle away a few hours after work and loose myself in my piece. Pottery painting - I believe helps you to switch off from the hustle and bustle of every day life and is so good for your mental health and well being. From plates to planters I soon shared my love with having friends and family round to join me and soon enough here we are! The studio wasn't massive and because of other commitments I couldn't open the studio for walk-ins everything needed to be booked.

I started in a small studio in my garden which sat eight people and I have had the pleasure of sharing my studio over the summer with people who are new to painting and creating some beautiful pieces.

I have so much stock - probably too much if you ask my husband - I'm not convinced! We out grew this little studio so fast and after a year we was searching for a bigger studio. We soon found our original bigger studio in Haverhill which could sit 20 people. After 18 months was on the hunt for more space! Then next door came up, lots of stress, tears and determination we extended into number 6. So now we can sit up to 48 people.

Come and give it a try - even if you think you aren't artistic!

Once painted the pieces are left with me in the studio to dry, then if needed will be clear glazed and then left to dry again before being fired. This process (depending how busy the studio is) tends to be completed in a 10 day turnaround. There is no 'amazon delivery' when it comes to pottery painting! Great things to comes to those who wait!

I'd love to see you and what you create - drop me a message if you have any questions!
